2019 National Safe Work Month
October is National Safe Work Month and the 2019 theme is 'Be a Safety Champion'.
This year’s theme demonstrates that anyone, both employers and workers from any occupation or industry can be a champion for work health and safety. Everyone can support a safety culture at their workplace and promote best practice work health and safety initiatives.

Free webinar: Vehicles as a workplace
Road traffic injury is the most significant contributor to work related fatalities in Australia and New Zealand. This webinar will give you an overview of the ‘Vehicles as a Workplace: Work Health & Safety Guide' from a safety, regulatory and industry perspective.
This national guide provides practical risk management guidance for individuals and organisations who use vehicles on public roads for work, and describes a process for dealing with road traffic hazards in line with work health and safety legislation and road traffic safety principles.

Free small business safety consultations
The Small Business Safety Program is an initiative designed to assist small businesses understand and comply with their work health and safety obligations. The aim of the program is to improve the capacity and capability of small businesses to manage their own health and safety systems.
Small Business Safety Advisors who are available for free workplace consultations and can provide resources and documents that are tailored to individual business needs.
Throughout October the Small Business Safety Program Advisors will be available for appointments in the following regions:
- Alice Springs - from 10:00 AM on Monday 21 October to 4:00 PM on Tuesday 22 October.
- Tennant Creek - from 10:00 AM on Wednesday 23 October to 4:00 PM on Thursday 24 October.
