Registered Training Organisations (RTO) - General construction induction training (GCIT)

This information bulletin contains information for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) seeking to deliver general construction induction training (GCIT) in the Northern Territory.

Workers performing construction work in the Northern Territory are required to complete training to obtain a NT GCIT card (White Card). The approved units of competency are:

CPCWHS1001- Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

Registered Training Organisations

RTOs wanting to deliver this training must first apply directly to the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

If you are already registered by ASQA and have the approved unit of competency on scope you must apply to NT WorkSafe to deliver the training in the Northern Territory.

Conditions

In order to become an approved RTO to deliver GCIT in the Northern Territory you are required to meet the following conditions:

  • Ensure all GCIT is delivered as a structured course of face-to-face delivery
  • Be prepared where reasonably practicable, to deliver training to Territorians in remote locations
  • Verify applicants identity by way of photo ID and record their details and date of training
  • Issue a Statement of Attainment/Written Declaration to the applicant who has successfully completed GCIT no later than 14 days after completion of training
  • Participate in audits conducted by NT WorkSafe
  • Notify NT WorkSafe of any change in contact details within 28 days of occurrence, including status changes with the Australian Skills Quality Authority.

Once an application has been made, NT WorkSafe will provide the outcome of the submission in writing. If successful, your details will be published on the NT WorkSafe website.
