Workers' compensation laws
The Northern Territory workers' compensation laws consist of the Return to Work Act 1986 and the Return to Work Regulations.
The laws establish a rehabilitation and compensation scheme for the Northern Territory that provides:
- an effective rehabilitation and compensation for injured workers
- a prompt and effective management of workplace injuries that promotes and assists injured workers to return to work, and
- a balanced scheme that provides adequate and just compensation to injured workers, while maintaining costs to a reasonable level for employers.
