Call for nominations for the Work Health and Safety Advisory Council

The Attorney-General is calling for nominations for the Work Health and Safety Advisory Council. The Council provides advice to the Attorney-General on work health and safety matters across the Northern Territory.

Who can nominate?

Nominations are invited from people in the Northern Territory who:

• have broad experience across major industry sectors in the Territory; and
• represent an organisation that represents employers or workers.

The Council is made up of no more than 10 members appointed by the Attorney-General, as well as the person who constitutes the Work Health Authority.

The membership is intended to include a broad range of industry experience and, as far as practical, equal representation from employer and worker organisations.

What does the Council do?

The Council:

• reviews how the Work Health and Safety (National Uniform Legislation) Act 2011 is working
• advises the Attorney-General on possible changes to the administration of the Act
• advises the Attorney-General on possible improvements to work health and safety standards in the Northern Territory
• investigates and reports on work health and safety matters when asked by the Attorney-General, and
• carries out other work health and safety advisory functions as directed by the Attorney-General.
