The licensing scheme for the electrical industry has changed in the Northern Territory with the commencement of new electrical safety laws in July this year.
The Electrical Worker and Contractors Act 1978 has been repealed and the Electrical Workers and Electrical Workers and Contractors Licensing Board has been abolished.
Electrical licences are now issued under the Electrical Safety Act 2022 by the NT WorkSafe, which includes the Electrical Safety Regulator.
