Statement - Reported fireworks Injury at Darwin Festivals

​NT WorkSafe has commenced an investigation into the incident at the Darwin Festival where a worker suffered burns injuries.

Our preliminary findings show that there was a malfunction in a fire-effects device known as the SAFEX-FLAMEJETTT®.

The exact cause of the malfunction is still being determined and a prohibition notice has been issued preventing further use of any fire-effects device until they have been examined by a competent person

The injuries were not caused by fireworks as reported in the media.
