Consultation open for proposed ban on the use of engineered stone
Safe Work Australia (SWA) has opened public consultation on the prohibition on the use of engineered stone. This follows after a national agreement to adopt SWA recommendations aimed at reducing workplace exposure to respirable crystalline silica.
The consultation paper presents three options for the prohibition, including evidence and data to inform the impact analysis of these options.
Northern Territory businesses, workers and interested parties are encouraged to express their views on the said paper to assist work health and safety ministers in considering steps to further mitigate the risks of working with silica dust-containing materials such as engineered stone.
Please visit Safe Work Australia’s consultation page to access the full report and submit feedback.
Submissions are open until 11.59pm (AEST), Sunday 02 April 2023.
