This infographic shows there were a total of 2337 workers' compensation claims in the Northern Territory for the year 2022-23. 11.0% of those claims were in Construction and 16.3% of those claims were for serious injuries.

Injury claims by age and gender

The image shows two bar graphs detailing injury claims by age and gender. In the age graph on the left, 14.4% of injuries occurred in workers under 25, and 2.3% of those claims were for a serious injury. 25.7% of injuries occurred in the 25 to 34 age bracket, and 4.7% of those claims were for a serious injury. 22.2% of injuries occurred in the 35 to 44 age bracket, and 3.1% of those claims were for a serious injury. 19.5% of injuries occurred in the 45 to 54 age bracket, and 2.7% of those claims were for a serious injury. 13.6% of injuries occurred in the 55 to 64 age bracket, and 3.1% of injured workers in that age bracket were seriously injured. 4.7% of injuries occurred in the 65+ age bracket, and 0.4% of injured workers in that age bracket were seriously injured. In the gender graph on the right, 87.2% of injured workers were male, 14.8% seriously injured, and 12.8% of injured workers were female, with 1.6% serious injured.

This infographic shows the main occupations by serious injury claims. 11.9% of Construction serious injury claims were made by a Plumber; 9.5% by Other Miscellaneous Labourers and Related Workers; and 9.5% by Structural Steel and Welding Tradespersons.

    54.4% wounds, lacerations, amputations and internal organ damage; 18.2% fractures and 18.2% traumatic joint/ligament and muscle/tendon injury.

    • Being trapped between stationary and moving object (18.2%)
    • Being hit by moving object (18.2%)

    • Fingers (45.5%)
