Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Advisory Council
The Workers' Rehabilitation and Compensation Advisory Council (the Council) is established under Part 3 of the Return to Work Act 1986.
The functions of the Council is to:
- keep the operation of the Act under review;
- make recommendations to the Minister on possible improvements to the administration of the Act, or the statutory scheme for the rehabilitation and compensation of injured workers in the Territory;
- carry out investigations, at the request of the Minister, into questions about the rehabilitation and compensation of injured workers and to report to the Minister on the results of the investigations, and
- perform any other advisory functions relating to workers' rehabilitation and compensation as the Minister directs.
The membership of the Council comprises of stakeholders including representatives from industry sectors, the insurance industry, worker and employer groups and individuals with expertise in the rehabilitation of injured workers.
Representation
Employers, workers and industry groups can bring workers' rehabilitation and compensation issues to the attention of the Council by addressing correspondence to the individual member and sending it to agd.ntworksafeadminstration@nt.gov.au. This will then be distributed to the Council member by the Council secretariat.
Reporting
The Council produces an Annual Report which provides a summary of the Council's activities and the operation of the Act during that year for the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
